We are currently working with a popular Primary school located on the outskirts of Chelmsford who are looking for a Part time Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant to join their team ASAP. You will be working with a pupil on a 1:1 basis with a child who needs additional support and settling into the class. The child does not have any behavioural issues. They have only recently arrived in the UK in December, and their first language is not English, so will need a candidate who can provide support whilst they are adapting to the UK School curriculum. The pupil is currently working at age 3 level. Ideally the school are looking for a candidate who has experience with EAL. The school are very organised with support plans in place for the child, the SENCO and class teacher are very supportive.
The role is to start ASAP 1-2 days per week, term time only with the becoming permanent for the right person.
The school is a friendly, welcoming place and is well liked by our teachers and support staff. The school is located on the outskirts of Chelmsford. They received a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating following their last inspection.
The ideal applicant
- Will have experience of working with EAL pupils or students in a primary school environment is preferable but not essential.
- Has the ability to develop strong relationships with pupils and staff.
- Creative, patient, empathic and adaptable
- Ideally a have TA/LSA qualification or equivalent or a graduate (not essential)
- A genuine passion for supporting children is essential
- A DBS or willingness to obtain one (we can do this for you)
- The position is to work in a mainstream primary school on a part time basis for the whole academic year, becoming permanent for the right candidate
- You will be working with pupils on an individual basis
- Setting up the classroom in preparation for the pupils arriving
- Communicating with the Teacher/SENCO effectively
