We are currently recruiting an LSA with SEND and EYFS experience to join a small village school near Colchester, Essex or a full time, term time only, basis from September 2021.
The position is to work Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:15pm as part of the classroom support team in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) under the direction of the class teacher.
Previous experience working with SEND and EYFS is important as this is a 1:1 LSA role where you will be supporting a 4-year-old who has complex speech and language needs. The child has an EHCP with identified individual development goals, and you will be working collaboratively with your fellow LSAs, class teacher, SENDCO and other professionals such as a SLT (Speech and Language Therapist).
Due to the needs of the child, knowledge and previous experience using techniques such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables. Also conducting observations, providing feedback to the class teacher, and using your initiative to build rapport. You will work with your class teacher to support planning and create simple resources as appropriate that provide engaging activities to positively challenge the child’s development.
In addition to SLCN, previous experience of providing support to children who are experiencing difficulties with behaviour, social interactions, confidence, and self-esteem would be beneficial as speech, language and communications skills support the development of these other areas (learning, social and emotional development, and behaviour).

As the successful candidate, you will have:
- Previous experience working with SEND and EYFS
- A positive approach to classroom management helping create a positive learning environment
- A holistic approach to supporting children’s development
- Hold a grade ‘C’ or above in GCSE English and Maths
Pay for this position is £13,065 – £14,625 per annum (depending on experience)

We pay fairly and transparently, and wherever possible will pay to scale ensuring that we meet Agency Worker Regulations after 12 weeks with a school. You are paid weekly in arrears, receiving an online payslip with a weekly pay showing your HMRC deductions and holiday pay breakdown.
