We are working with an Independent School School based in Bishops Stortford that need an tutor to provided 1:1 based support to one of their Year 12 students.
The young person has become disengaged with education due to circumstances outside of the school environment and the school are looking to reignite an interest and passion for learning.
The role is to work 3 days within the classroom and spend the other 2 days in an alternative environment when the learning activity can be related to everyday life. This could be working in the forest school, library or even a leisure centre if, for example, the learning activity was about pulse rates and how exercise affects that.
The young person can be defiant and resistant to participate. You will need to be resilient, confident in your ability to set out expectations, and be able to use your initiative to encourage the young persons involvement.
The position is to start ASAP, working Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. The school have a rota of 6 weeks on with 2 weeks off for a half term break, and 1 month off over the summer (August).
This is a perfect opportunity for someone experienced n supporting disengaged pupils and those with SEMH whilst also being able to work in a creative and instinctive way.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- A minimum of a level 4 qualification
- An Enhanced DBS disclosure which is on the update service
- A minimum of 6 months experience of supporting young people with SEMH and/or disengaged students
