Full-Time SEN English Teacher Wickford Essex
SEN English Teacher Wickford Essex
Vacancy details: SEN English Teacher Wickford Essex
Required from: ASAP
I am recruiting on behalf of a pupil referral unit based on the outskirts of Wickford who are looking for a qualified teacher to join their team ASAP.
The position is to teach English on a full-time basis, with KS3/KS4 aged students using the iGCSE curriculum. Classes are no larger than 6-7 pupils. The students who you will be working with have behaviours that challenge, and the school is a Trauma Perceptive Practice school, therefore an understanding of behaviour and emotional wellbeing in students would be essential.
As a teacher and class lead, you will need to be calm, patient and show empathy towards all students. You will be setting an example to students within your classes, so it is important to be encouraging and enthusiastic to the pupils. Retaining their attention and allowing them to recognise and achieve their individual goals is key. You will be part of the school team, and work alongside the other teachers in planning and marking. The classes are small, which allows you to create lessons that will be catered to the specific needs of the students.
The ideal applicant would have previous experience of working with disengaged young people aged 11-16. The school need someone who is resilient, and that can create a positive outlook on the student’s education, creating a clear view of where they would like to be beyond their time in the school. The school teaches functional skills and uses the iGCSE curriculum, so experience of this would be advantageous.
This position would be ideal for someone who is confident in their abilities to build rapport with disengaged pupils, with a forward thinking and adaptable approach to teaching.
If you would like to have a visit or tour of the school or for more information regarding this vacancy, please get in touch.
To be successfully appointed in this role you will need to have eligibility to work within the UK and have a valid Enhanced DBS.
