Job Description

SEN Learning Support Assistant required Ipswich

Vacancy details: SEN Learning Support Assistant required Ipswich

Required from: ASAP

An experienced LSA (Learning Support Assistant) is required to work at one of our client Special Educational Needs Schools with an ASAP start.

Previous experience of working with children who have SEMH ( Social, emotional and mental health) is essential, however additional training will be provided for suitable candidates.

Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs are a type of special educational needs in which children/young people have severe difficulties in managing their emotions and behaviour. They often show inappropriate responses and feelings to situations.

As a dedicated LSA for SEMH students you will need to be confident and comfortable in aiding students that are resistant to learning, having experienced a trauma. This is because students with an EHCP for SEMH have individual needs that need empathy, support and understanding. The schools aim is that every child has access to the best possible opportunity to gain an education, social and life skills, as well as benefit from non curriculum-based lessons.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be providing invaluable 1:1 support to children within the classroom setting. You may also be required to support the child/ren outside of the school in an alternative educational setting offering vocational studies, so a full driving licence is essential.

This is a term-time only position working 9am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday, offering a salary range from £15,000.00 to £18,000.00 per year.

To be successfully appointed in this role you will need to have eligibility to work within the UK and have a valid Enhanced DBS.

What we can do for you…

You will have a dedicated local consultant who has an in depth understanding of the schools in your area, supported by a fantastic team who are here to meet your needs every step of the way.

In times where flexible working is becoming more important to encourage a real work-life balance, 4myschools understand this and are working closely with ‘updatedge’ who provide a fantastic app that allows you to instantly update your own availability directly from your smart phone, which in turn is shared with our office systems. This gives you full flexibility to manage your own weekly calendar and pick up work when you want it.
