Interview Date: week beginning Monday 23rd January 2023

The Blue Coat School are looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in KS1 and KS2 from March. This is a full time post during term time, with the possibility of some extra paid hours in Aftercare and in holiday clubs. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a formal interview during the week commencing 23rd January, and also be observed interacting with the children in a lesson.

Applications must be made on The Blue Coat School Application Form accompanied by a supporting letter, and must include details of two referees, one of which should be a current or most recent employer.

Salary is £17,473 per annum which covers the full 12 months, ie including school holidays. Free lunches and on-site parking as well as pension contributions are also provided.

Skills and experience required

  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum, the Early Learning Goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and current educational practice.
  • Understanding of how pupils’ learning is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and understand the stages of child development.
  • Ability to support and assist the Head of Prep, Head of Pre-Prep and Class Teachers in providing a happy, secure, safe and stimulating environment in which the children can develop to their full potential.
  • Experience of liaising with teaching staff to contribute to the planning and delivery of the teaching programme, and assisting in the monitoring, assessment and recording of each pupil’s academic and social progress systematically.
  • Experience of assisting teaching staff to create a bright classroom environment in which children’s work is displayed to promote and enhance learning, and maintaining general orderliness of the classroom environment and its resources.
  • First Aid training (or willingness to undertake this).
